Thursday Night, Burton celebrate the launch of Married to the Mob x Burton at their NYC store in Soho. Chanel West Coast, best known as a rapper and on the hit MTV Show “Ridiculousness” was in attendance as the face of the collection. Also, in attendance was MTTM CEO Leah McSweeney, along with folks from The Good Life who helped promote the party.
Married to the Mob chose rapper and LA It – Girl Chanel West Coast as the face of the collection because she represented a feminine but tomboy-ish appeal with a demeanor that makes MOB girls exciting.
In an interview with Burton Girl Talk, Leah McSweeney discussed how she discovered MTTM, “The inspiration…well for one, I kept getting fired from every job I had. So it was like, damn, well I guess I better just create my own job and work for myself. I was really inspired by the people I was hanging out with, which was my boyfriend at the time Rob, the founder of Alife. Russ from SSUR, his store was across the street from my apartment on Spring Street. I thought, well these guys are doing it, why can’t I do it, but for the chicks? And that’s kind of how it started.
